HOORAY FOR SATURDAY

jon and i are very excited to have a day to ourselves. with jon finishing finals then me having midterms, our weekends have been FULL of studying for the past few saturdays.

last night we started our weekend by having our weekly pot-luck dinner party. it snowed like crazy all day yesterday. i was going to make shrimp and cheese grits, but the weather was so bad we could not go out to the store. we just ended up making our favorite one dish mexican casserole because we had all the ingredients on hand. my friend vanessa lives a few blocks away, so we decided to just trudge through the snow to her house. we took turns carrying the casserole through the blowing snow. it was fun except for the crazy people who were out driving sprayed us with snow when passing us.

we did start the weekend a little early... thursday afternoon we went SNOW TUBING!! it was soo much fun. we went to boyce park where they have a snow tubing course up a HUGE hill. they have a magic carpet lift up to the top. it is like the moving floors on the jetson's cartoon. once at the top you choose a lane to go down. jon and i tried them all out to find the fastest ones! they were REALLY fast! if you lay on your stomach and keep your feet and head down, you'll speed all the way down and smash into the big blow up air tube that stops you at the end. that was my favorite thing because i would fly off the tube. it was great. after about an hour and a half my toes were freezing off, so we went inside to warm up by the fire. jon took off his gloves and.... NO WEDDING BAND. we were freaking out! he had taken his gloves off once while we were riding the magic carpet to check his phone, so he was sure he lost it then. our hands were so cold. we were sure it pulled off then, and we were never going to find it. we hopelessly searched for it for awhile and left our names with the manager just incase it turned up. i was hoping jon had forgotten to put it on that day. we all the sudden decided to go and got ready really fast. we got home, and it was here! we were sooo excited. it was really a icky feeling to think it was lost. i know... it is just a ring, but it is not something you want to buy again... it seems not as special as the first one.

next weekend starts my spring break! jon and i are going skiing with the shadyside youth group at the wisp resort in maryland. it is like 2 hours from here. we are super excited. we are staying in a cabin for the weekend and skiing all day saturday. what a sweet way to start my spring break!

it is snowing again today! i was wishing for so much snow that we could not open the door... maybe i will get my wish! haha it is getting warmer... like 33 degrees! haha so maybe some will start melting. i hope not!

sorry no pictures this time. i have just been having too much trouble loading those things. also... whenever i take my camera on our snow adventures it freezes! haha it is just too cold to work for some reason.

Brad almost lost his wedding band this weekend, too! We were out cleaning up garbage at our house and he realized it was gone (he's lost about 15 pounds since he got sick). You can imagine the construction mess--about as bad as snow. There is sawdust and mud/dirt and just garbage everywhere! We looked for it for a while at the house. He finally found it when we got back to the apartment by going through one of the garbage bags of junk we had brought from the house. The guys have gotten lucky! Love, Emily

I feel like I started this jewelry
dilemma having lost and recovered my pinky ring twice and an earring too. We were all lucky to find them again -- not because of monetary value, but because they are special to us because they were gifts from loved ones!!

On second thought, Jon could be like your daddy... who only wore his for a few months and in the jewelry box it went! He had a friend who pulled his finger off while administering some treatment to an animal. The guy got it caught on a cage or equipment or something, so Robert took his off!
